2 years of missing something you didn't even know was gone
(04/02/2003) Gil Sharp, age 48, of Austin, Texas, died on Monday, March 31. Born in Valdosta, Georgia, Gil graduated from East Texas State University in 1977. He taught speech, theater and film classes at Crockett High School for over twenty-five years, heading an award-winning theater department for much of that time. Gil was preceded in death by his mother, Bertie Jean Tweedy Sharp. He is survived by his wife, Mary Price Sharp; his father, Cecil Sharp; brother, Curtis Sharp; sister, Geraldine Sharp Mendez and husband, Darrell; nephews and nieces, Joshua, Jacob, Ryan and Natalie. Additional close family members include Blanche Thompson Price, Linda Anderson, Edwin Thompson, Sudie Thompson, Camille Thompson and Jeff Thompson, along with their spouses, partners and children. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 3 at the Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 W. William Cannon Drive in Austin. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 4 at 1:00 p.m. at the Manchaca United Methodist Church located at 1011 W. Fm 1626, Manchaca, Texas 78652. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice Austin, 4107 Spicewood Springs Road, Austin, Texas 78759. Contributions to the Gil Sharp Memorial Scholarship Fund are also welcomed. Contributions should be sent to Crockett High School, 5601 Manchaca Road, Austin, Texas 78745, in care of Dr. Barbara H.
